ON THE ROAD AGAIN... It is hard work to write one's books and at the same time to market it. This week I had barely time to spend on my writing of my latest Afrikaans book, "Soldaat," as again I am heading off on a road trip. This time the route will take me to an outdoor "Breakaway and Get together" on a farm near the Vaalriver on 25 August. Johan Lombaard is the host and interested parties may contact him at : 073 424 1214.
During this gathering we will hear from Tourleader Andre van Tonder about their trips to Angola, the visits to the coastal towns, the Angolan interior as well as the battlefields of the Borderwar.
Thereafter, I shall address the crowd with my experiences during Operation KEG during November 1982 when a combined force of 1 Recce and 4 Recce attacked the two bridges over the Giraul river near the port city of Namibe. This speech will be motivational and is aimed at young and old, male and female.
We shall all, of course, watch the rugby afterwards and may the Springboks beat the Pumas in Argentine!! Somewhere during the day we will eat and eventually goes tyo bed in the tented camp on the farm.
The next day I shall spend some time in Sasolburg, maybe even visit the RAU island where the now infamous RAE TEM base of the former Buro of State Security was located...
On Monday it is back to Pretoria for a meeting with the printing company, some informal meetings before I hit the road to Bultfontein in the Free State.
The Boertjiefees... A music festival combined with the local Agricultural show over a stretch of 3 days! This should be very exciting with the ever impressive Brian Emmenis on the broadcasting side, broadcasting live to the people who can't attend.
On the Thursday evening, during the Vendor's dinner, I shall be giving a short speech. Duting the following days I shall be at my stall, chatting with visitors and signing books to each and everyone. By the way, all my books will be there, except..., of course, the latest one which we shall launch in November 2018!
Just rock up and come... And enjoy!!!
Early on Sunday morning, 2 September, I will depart for home, and giving the distance, I should be home by nightfall!!
As always, it will be super exciting to be home, next to the waves breaking on the beach of Glentana...
Until my next trip!!
